Shubman Gill Announced As Vice-Captain

Gill, whose place was not fixed in the side as per previous reports, was not only included in the side but was also named as the vice-captain of the side in the Asia Cup. Previously, Axar Patel was India's vice-captain in India's last T20I series against England.

Meanwhile, among the premier batters, Shreyas Iyer has not found a spot in the side with the management picking Tilak Verma ahead of the right-handed batter. He is likely to bat at three with SKY likely to bat at four. The lower-order will have all-rounders in the form of Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel almost guaranteed selections. Shivam Dube and Jitesh Sharma are also picked in the side to give it more batting depth.

Talking about the pacers, Jasprit Bumrah is all set to lead the bowling attack with Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, the other seamers. Hardik will be the fourth seamer in the lineup.

Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav are the specialist spinners picked in the side with Axar as the third spinner. The management is looking to give both spinners the continuity they deserve after playing key roles behind India’s T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy victories.
