India's opener KL Rahul's brilliant century at Lord's Cricket Stadium enabled the team to draw parity and allowed India a great chance of winning the third Test. The stylish batter, who loves batting at the Lord's Stadium, scored his second century at this venue after scoring the first one in 2021. After the end of Day three's play, the right-hand batter gave his signed jersey to the Lord's Museum.
Rahul's second ton at Lord's has added him to an exclusive list of Indian batters with multiple tons at the venue, demonstrating yet again his ability to step up in overseas conditions. Speaking after the end of the day's play on the BCCI's official social media, the right-hand batter focused not speaking too much about his record and instead chose to speak about his responsibility of winning matches for the team.
“I don't build it up in my head that much. I try and focus on my job, and it was to get the team off to a good start and see how I can put runs on the board,” said Rahul.
He added, “Very good knock, important in the context of the game. Happy with the performance. Everything about Lord’s makes it that much more special. The history and legacy, every time you walk into Lord’s, you're reminded of it.”
KL Rahul's splendid ton gives India a slight edge
For the unversed, the visitors lost opener Jaiswal early in pursuit of 387 runs first innings set by the hosts. They also lost Karun Nair after a brief stay at the crease. KL Rahul steadied the ship in the company of vice-captain Rishabh Pant, who ended up scoring 74. However, it was the opener's solid knock under pressure that allowed India to post 387 runs.

Now, India bowlers would be hoping to bundle the hosts below 300, as any target above that in the fourth innings would be difficult for Gill & Co. to chase.
