IPL 2025 Match 29 DC vs. MI Highlights: Ryan Rickleton, Tilak Varma's Blitzkrieg Powers Mumbai

Mumbai Indians (MI) scored 205 runs in the first innings of the 29th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 13.

DC skipper Axar Patel won the toss and elected to bowl first, aiming to exploit early conditions at a venue known for high-scoring encounters. Mumbai Indians, struggling with just one win in five outings, were under pressure to post a competitive total against an unbeaten DC side.

Ryan Rickelton (41 runs off 25 balls) attacked Mitchell Starc in the first over, smashing two boundaries. He then thumped Mukesh Kumar for a six in the second over. Rohit Sharma (18 runs off 12 balls) also went berserk in the third over against Starc, who got hammered all over the park and leaked 19 runs, including three fours and a six.

The fifth over proved pivotal as Vipraj Nigam struck a massive blow for DC. Bowling a tight length, he trapped Rohit LBW with a delivery that pinned him in front of the leg-stump.

Suryakumar Yadav (40 runs off 28 balls) joined Rickleton at the crease and struck a six on the first ball of his innings. Mumbai Indians scored 59 runs for the fall of one wicket in the powerplay.

Kuldeep Yadav, DC’s trump card, entered the attack in the eighth over. He dismissed Rickelton. The southpaw missed a googly and got cleaned up.

Tilak Varma (59 runs off 33 balls), batting at No. 4, and Suryakumar continued to score freely. They found boundaries in every over, forcing the pressure back onto the Capitals.

Finally, Kuldeep brought an end to the 60-run partnership, sending Suryakumar back to the pavilion. Another wicket fell in quick succession as Hardik Pandya (2 runs off 4 balls) perished, trying to take on Vipraj.

Tilak brought up his fifty in 26 deliveries, continuing his good form. He was well-aided by Naman Dhir (38 runs off 17 balls), who looked in great touch and dealt in boundaries from the start of his innings.

Tilak, who had already received a lifeline early on in the innings, was gifted another chance as two fielders collided while attempting a catch and dropped it in the 19th over. Naman added insult to the injury and ended the over a six.

Mukesh took Tilak's wicket in the fourth delivery of the 20th over. He got holed out at the deep mid-wicket region.

Naman and Will Jacks (1 run off 1 ball) ran four runs on the last ball of the innings, taking MI's total to 205 runs at the end of 20 overs.

For DC, Kuldeep was the pick of the bowlers. He claimed two scalps and gave away just 23 runs in his four overs.
