Nehal Wadhera played an unbeaten cameo against RCB at the Chinnaswamy that propelled Punjab Kings to a five-wicket win on Friday.

Josh Hazlewood Took The Wicket Of PBKS Skipper Shreyas Iyer

The Kings were intent on winning the match as soon as possible. Their openers, Prabhsimran Singh (13 runs off 9 balls) and Priyansh Arya (16 runs off 11 balls) added 22 for the first wicket inside less than three overs.

RCB came back into the contest with Josh Hazlewood picking up two wickets in the eighth over. PBKS lost their skipper Shreyas Iyer (7 runs off 10 balls) and Josh Inglis (14 runs off 17 balls). Those two quick wickets by Josh Hazlewood gave RCB a glimmer of hope.

Nehal Wadhera Launches Attack On Suyash

However, the hopes were dashed quickly as Nehal Wadhera (33* runs off 19 balls) came out with a different mindset. He attacked RCB spinner Suyash Sharma and hit him for a couple of sixes that broke the shackles for the team in red. He hit three sixes and three fours in his unbeaten knock that took Punjab close to victory. The victory was finally seized by Marcus Stonis who hit the first delivery of the 13th over for a six to give Punjab a dominant win. They won with 11 balls to spare as RCB lost their third game on the trot at home.

Previously, RCB scored 95 runs for nine wickets in their 14 overs. It was largely possible due to Tim David's maiden IPL fifty. He and Rajat Patidar (23 runs off 18 balls) were the only two batters from Bengaluru who scored in double digits in their innings. Yuzvendra Chahal webbed his magic with the ball as he took two wickets for 11 runs and started the slide for RCB.

The win has taken Punjab Kings to the second position of the IPL 2025 points table with 10 points. Delhi Capitals are leading the points table with 10 points as well. The Kings who started with back to back wins this season, had an interesting week gone by. They lost a high-scoring encounter against SRH, where they failed to defend 245. In their next game, they defended 111 against KKR and again won in style against RCB in an away contest.

Halfway through the season, the Kings have impressed one and all under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. Coach Ricky Ponting has worked wonderfully well with Iyer and the duo have worked wonders for the side.
