Badoni-Markram shared a 76-run stand together.

Fifties from Ayush Badoni and Aiden Markram helped Lucknow Super Giants (LSG ) post a good total of 180 runs for five wickets after their 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday, April 19.

RR won the toss and opted to bowl first. Skipper Sanju Samson missed the game for that which allowed Vaibhav Suryavanshi to make his IPL debut for the Royals. At 14 years, he became the youngest player ever to play in the cash-rich league.

The Royals bowlers had a decent outing in the game as they kept the Super Giants to a relatively below-par total given how RCB chased down in their previous game against RR at this venue.

Mitchell Marsh ( 4 runs off 6 balls) fell in the second over of the innings as he was dismissed by Jofra Archer. Soon after Nicholas Pooran (11 runs off 8 balls) an skipper Rishabh Pant (3 runs off 9 balls) were dismissed cheaply as well LSG were 54/3 in the eighth over. Pant was dismissed cheaply once agin as his form continues to be a worry for the franchise.

It was then that Aiden Markram (66 runs off 45 balls) and Ayush Badoni (50 runs off 34 balls) added a 76-run stand and brought the LSG innings back on track. The adapted themselves to the pitch conditions brilliantly as they played smartly in the middle overs.

Markram-Badoni Stand Steadied The Ship For LSG AFter Early Wickets

In a quest to score quick runs in the final overs, Markram was dismissed in the 16th over and Badoni in the 18th. However, a timely cameo from Abdul Samad ( 30 runs off 10 balls) helped the Super Giants post 180/5 in their 20 overs. David Miller (7 off 8 balls) took a single in the first ball of the final over from Sandeep Sharma. Then it was Samad who scored 26 runs off the last five balls to help LSG finish on 180 runs. His late surge gave LSG the momentum they needed going into the break.

Sandeep Sharma finished with 55 runs from his four overs and took a wicket. Wanindu Hasaranga took two wickets for 31 runs, Jofra Archer took one wicket for 32 runs and Tushar Deshpande gave 26 runs off his four overs and picked up a wicket.

The advantage the Royals have in this game is that the venue has been a chasing ground. RCB proved it against RR in their previous game when they chased 173 in a canter. The Royals, even without Sanju Samson, should back themselves to get the job done. If they do, it will be their first win at home this season.
