IPL 2025 Match 56 MI vs GT Highlights: MI off to blazing start despite losing two wickets

Surya MI vs GT

Mumbai Indians (MI) were rocked early in the power play by the Gujarat Titans (GT) bowlers in the ongoing match 56 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season as they lost both their openers, Ryan Rickelton (2 runs) and Rohit Sharma (7 runs), inside the power play. GT could have gotten four wickets in the powerplay if not for the dropped chances of Will Jacks on 0 runs and Suryakumar Yadav on 14 runs, as Sai Sudarshan and Sai Kishore dropped easy chances, respectively. On account of those blunders on the field, MI got off to a blazing start as they raced to 56 runs in the power play.

Jacks, also got a second reprieve, as he was dropped on 30 runs by Mohammed Siraj. Sloppy fielding allowed Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav some easy runs. The latter looked in sublime touch as he drove, cut, and flicked nonchalantly.

On the other hand, the former looked aggressive right from the outset. Will Jacks came in first and made his intentions clear by taking on Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshad Khan.

MI off to flyer, task cut out for GT bowlers

How costly those dropped catches will prove, only time will tell. MI, who don't give so many chances, will now look to punish the GT bowlers. For the visitors, their spinners will play a crucial role, as Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan are in good form.

Meanwhile, MI will look to post a target above 200 runs. It is to be noted that the five-time IPL champions have never lost a match when they post a target above 200 runs in 17 matches in the league's history. At the halfway stage, MI are 89 runs for the loss of two wickets.
