The Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) has been a thrilling showcase of cricketing talent, with the battle for the Orange Cap (most runs) and Purple Cap (most wickets) intensifying as the tournament progresses. 

The recent clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on Monday at the Eden Gardens saw GT deliver a commanding 39-run victory, further solidifying their dominance at the top of the table with 12 points. It significantly impacted the individual leaderboards, with GT players making strong claims for the coveted Orange and Purple Caps.

Orange Cap Leaderboard: Sai Sudharsan Gets to the Top

Sai Sudharsan’s elegant 52 runs off 36 balls against KKR helped GT post 198 runs and propelled him to the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard. His season tally of 417 runs, making him the first batter to cross 400 runs in IPL 2025, showcases his consistency. 

Nicholas Pooran’s explosive batting for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), including four fifties in eight innings, keeps him in second place with 368 runs in his tally. 

GT’s Jos Buttler, who recently smashed 97 runs and 41 runs versus Delhi Capitals (DC) and KKR respectively, holds third place, having scored 356 runs in the season so far. Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Suryakumar Yadav and Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Virat Kohli are closely following him with 333 and 322 runs, respectively.

Purple Cap Leaderboard: Prasidh Krishna Takes Massive Lead

Prasidh Krishna’s disciplined bowling for GT, including his two wickets against KKR, has seen him claim 16 wickets overall, four more than his closest rivals in the IPL 2025 Purple Cap leaderboard.

There is a logjam at 12 wickets. As many as six bowlers share the second place. DC’s Kuldeep Yadav, Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Noor Ahmad, GT’s R Sai Kishore and Mohammed Siraj, RCB’s Josh Hazlewood, and LSG’s Shardul Thakur have claimed 12 scalps each in IPL 2025 so far.

Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh, MI’s Hardik Pandya, KKR’s Harshit Rana, and CSK’s Khaleel Ahmed are also pushing hard for their cases, having bagged 11 wickets so far.
