The Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) trade rumours have taken an interesting turn after a social media post involving Sanju Samson and a top Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) official. Biju George, the Head of Scouting at Kolkata Knight Riders, shared a photo on Instagram with Samson and wrote, "Some memories are special."
With the trade window currently open, and franchises looking to make big moves, the post of KKR’s scout was interpreted as a subtle teaser of what could come next.
With KKR searching for a captain after a disappointing IPL 2025 under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, they might be looking for a stable and experienced skipper like Sanju Samson.

CSK or KKR? Sanju Samson’s Future in Doubt After Scout’s Viral Post Amid IPL 2026 Trade Talks
Even before KKR entered the picture, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were reportedly in advance talks with Samson regarding a trade. With MS Dhoni expected to retire soon, CSK are planning for the future and want Samson as their next wicket-keeper.
Now, Biju George’s post has added a new twist. It suggests that KKR could also be serious about signing Samson. With two big teams reportedly interested, the chances of a major trade happening seem higher than ever.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have not made any statement about Samson’s future. But with all the talk around him, it looks like the Royals will have to make a big decision soon.
Samson has been with Rajasthan Royals for a long time and has led the team in recent years. But his relationship with the franchise seems to have deteriorated in the last season. The side finished second-last on the points table in IPL 2025.

How Sanju Samson Performed in IPL 2025?
Sanju Samson had a tough IPL 2025. He was injured and missed a few matches. Riyan Parag led the team in his absence. Rajasthan Royals could not make it to the playoffs.
In the season, the 30-year-old played a total of nine matches and scored 285 runs at an average of 31.67 and a strike-rate of 140.39.
His best season as captain was in 2022, when he led the team to the final. If he moves to another team now, whether it’s CSK or KKR, he could bring the same leadership and experience.
