India ODI captain Rohit Sharma is one of cricket’s most destructive batters. He has made a career out of taking on the best bowlers in the world with fearless hitting. When asked recently which bowler he enjoys smashing the most, the 38-year-old responded in his trademark style with his witty and confident reply.
Rohit has built his reputation as a power-hitter. He is the leading six-hitter in international cricket with 637 maximums.
In the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025), Rohit Sharma had a tough time with the bat at the start. But he stormed back into form to finish with 418 runs in 15 matches. He smashed 22 sixes in the season for Mumbai Indians (MI). Earlier this year, he announced his retirement from Test cricket, narrowing his focus to ODI format for India.

Rohit Sharma’s Cheeky Reply on Favourite Bowler to Smash Delights Fans
At a recent promotional event for Oral-B, Rohit was asked to pick the bowler he loves hitting the most. Instead of singling anyone out, he shared his mindset while batting, which is to try and take on every bowler.
"Sabhi log hain yaar (I like hitting sixes against every bowler)," Rohit said as quoted.
"Kisi bhi bowler ke saamne jab batting karta hoon yehi sochta hoon ki usko maarna hai mujhe. Aisa koi nahin hai, ek hee banda hai, usko hee maarna hai mujhe (Whichever bowler I bat against, I go with the mindset of how I can hit them. There isn't any specific bowler I target)," he added.
Finally, Rohit went deeper into his strategy, stressing how he likes to shift pressure back onto the bowler.
"Mera toh aisa hee hai, kisi ke baare mein toh bol nahin sakta. Par mera aisa thinking hota hai ki, jo mere saamne aayega, mujhe accha karna hai aur usko pressure mein daalna hai. Mere apne tareeke hain pressure mein daalne ke, toh main koshish karta hoon (I cannot single out any bowler. My thought process is, whoever is in front of me, I have to perform against them and put them under pressure. I have my own tactics to put them under pressure, that's what I try)," Rohit stated.

Uncertainty Over Rohit Sharma’s ODI Future
Rohit has retired from T20Is and Test cricket but he is still available for India in ODIs. His next international assignment is likely to be the three-match ODI series against Australia in October. Rohit could also play some India A matches before that tour.
Even so, questions remain about how long Rohit will continue in the 50-over format. At 38, his future in the team is not guaranteed. Shubman Gill has stepped up as a leader. The selectors will have to decide whether to keep relying on Rohit’s experience or start planning more firmly for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
