The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Saint George, Antigua and Barbuda, was built for the 2007 Cricket World Cup. It hosted several Super 8 matches during that tournament. The stadium is named after legendary West Indies cricketer Viv Richards, a cricket icon whose name is celebrated across the Caribbean.
The ground has a seating capacity of around 10,000 spectators but for the World Cup, temporary seats were added. The stadium layout includes two main structures, the Northern Stand and a five-story South Stand. Facilities here include high-quality practice pitches, well-equipped training areas, and a dedicated media centre. One of the stadium’s unique features is its underground passageways.
Ahead of the Test match between the West Indies and England in April 2015, the venue honoured two more West Indies greats by renaming the ends. The North one became the Sir Curtly Ambrose End, while the opposite end was dedicated to Sir Andy Roberts. Known for its vibrant crowd atmosphere, the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium Stadium continues to be a venue where cricket blends with Caribbean passion and local heritage.
