Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the 25th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium by eight wickets.
Chasing just 104 runs, KKR came out all guns blazing with the aim to finish the match as quickly as possible to give a boost to their Net Run Rate.
MS Dhoni gave the new ball to Khaleel Ahmed, who bowled the first over. The pacer was tight with his line and length but made a mistake on the last ball, bowling short to Sunil Narine (44 runs off 18 balls), who hit the first six of the innings.
Anshul Kamboj was making his debut for CSK. In what was not the greatest of starts, he conceded a maximum on the first ball of his spell at the hands of Quinton de Kock (23 runs off 16 balls). The South African southpaw kept dealing in boundaries and smashed Khaleel for two more sixes in third over.

On a pitch that was helping the spinners a lot, Dhoni finally brought Ravichandran Ashwin to the attack. But even the off-spinner could not do much as Narine thumped him for a four and a six.
The game had already slipped away from CSK’s hands. The result was merely a formality. CSK were fighting a lost battle.Â
But, for Kamboj, all of this did not matter. He cleaned up de Kock on the first ball of the fifth over, giving CSK the breakthrough they needed.
Ajinkya Rahane (20* runs off 17 balls), coming out to bat at No. 3, ensured no respite for the hosts. He dominated Khaleel right from the word go, hammering a six off the pacer.
Narine also cleared the ropes in the same over, accumulating another biggie to add to CSK’s misery. He continued the onslaught and tore apart Ashwin, tonking him for two more sixes.
Noor Ahmad ended Narine's innings in eighth over. However, CSK needed more than a miracle.
Rinku Singh (15* runs off 12 balls) finished the chase early with a six in the first ball of the 11th over as KKR defeated CSK by eight wickets.
With this win, KKR made a huge jump on the IPL 2025 points table, climbing to third position. On the other hand, CSK remained at the ninth place.
